NW PDX Trail Runners is an intermediate level (but beginner friendly!) running group that meets every Saturday at Lower Macleay in Forest Park, and usually mid-week somewhere else in the park. Originally started in February of 2013 by Danielle Spillman, the group itself has grown steadily since the beginning, although the Saturday morning runs always seem to average about 15-20 runners.
The group is usually about half regulars, half newbies, so don’t worry! You’ll almost certainly find someone to run with, as we all run at different paces.
We’re all about trail running, camping, coffee, breakfast burritos, socializing over beers, exploring Portland and the surrounding areas, talking about gear, *not* talking about gear, etc. If any of those things sound like fun to you, then come run with us!

From Taylor: Hi, I’m Taylor Overmiller, competitive athlete, Track/Cross Country Coach, and hopefully your future Personal Trainer. I started Portland Outdoor Athletics (POA) to turn my passions into a career. My convenient mobile service brings personal attention with individually designed workouts to the client, and the credibility of these exercises is constantly proven by the successes of those who are trained by them.
Before POA, I spent a couple years working as a scientist in a genetics laboratory, putting my Bachelors of Science degree in Biology to use. Through college I competed in Track & Field and Cross Country at the NCAA D-I and D-II levels as an 800m specialist, and also completed the Army’s Simultaneous Membership Program (ROTC and National Guard). As a former military Officer I earned Level 1 Security Clearance, and as a current Portland Interscholastic League Coach my background clearance is spotless and up to date. Add that to the fact that our sessions only happen outdoors and clients need not worry about safety during our time together.
Recently I was featured on national TV for an obstacle course race, and decided soon after that now is a good time for me to strike out on my own and start this dream job. Whether your goal is to run a mile in under five minutes or just to run your first mile ever, finish a Spartan Race or complete your first pull-up, I would love to share in your fitness journey as you work to create a better version of yourself.
