The popular Helvetia Half Marathon, 15K, & 10K run/walk has a major addition this year. NEW in 2017 is a 25 mile bike race through gorgeous scenery! We are excited for the annual running, and riding, of this award winning event where you “Leave the City Behind“. Come enjoy this scenic course with breathtaking views of the gorgeous countryside in rural Washington County.
The Beacon Rock races are harder than your average trail race courses thanks mostly to the elevation gain and loss for each course, 7500ft for the 50k and 3750ft for the 25k. The route is basically a ~23km “figure eight” with a 0.8 mile out and back from the start/finish area, The Beacon Rock Group Camp Site, to the figure eight. The 50k is two “loops” of the 25k course.
Each loop has a mixture of pavement(0.6mi), single track trail, and wider double track or dirt road. Most of the time the tread is smooth, the grade gradual and you can trust your footing but of course there are exceptions! You’re in the forest most of the time but the views(on a clear day) going up and from the top of Hamilton Mountain of the Columbia River Gorge, Mt Hood, and Mt Adams are spectacular.
A popular day of the year to get out and run! Join the dad’s for a 5k. Start line and finish line are at Cook Park in Tigard. Starting at 8:50 am, dad’s breakfast will be available. The course is flat and fast except for the one hill. The 2017 event will certainly draw the area’s top runners, and the best looking dad’s! The entire family can run – and we encourage the mothers to help in the kitchen (on this day only).
Grab good ole dad, pops, poppa, padre, dadio, old man or whatever you like to call him and join us for this fun-filled event that celebrates dad on Father’s Day weekend! The Grateful dad is a half marathon / 10k / 5k for the entire family that runs along the beautiful Columbia River with sweet views of the cascade range. Stick around after for a grateful family breakfast, a groovy beer garden and some sweet tunes to fill the air!
