Reebok Ragnar Wasatch Back is the race that started it all. This 200-ish mile overnight running relay begins in Northern Utah in the city of Logan and traverses across the back of Utah’s rough and tough Wasatch Mountains. Teams of 12 runners (or ultra-teams of 6 runners) tag team miles across three mountain passes, next to alpine lakes and past fields of wildflowers. When the sun sets, billions of stars, lit-up vans and glowsticks light the night. Teams finish together like champions at Solider Hollow, UT, the home of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Learn for yourself why so many runners have Ragnar stickers on their car, or come back and do it bigger, better and faster than before.

We developed this race to highlight the beauty of Central Oregon and to provide a different relay experience – one focused on team spirit and camaraderie, a challenging and varied race course, an intimate feel, and a non-congested relaxed race experience. Scott took two years off work to develop the course and prepare for the first year and Scott and Carrie produced the inaugural CLR one week after getting married in July 2008.

Considered to be on the “bucket list” for many a runner and walker, Hood To Coast has filled its team limit for the past 24 years, and 17 straight years on “Opening Day” of the lottery. The course runs approximately 320 km (200 mi) (the course length changes by 1-5 km each year due to small changes made by race organizers) from Timberline Lodge on the slopes of Mount Hood, the tallest peak in Oregon, through the Portland metropolitan area, and over the Oregon Coast Range to the beach town of Seaside on the Oregon Coast.
Walkers and high school teams may choose to compete in the Portland To Coast Walk or Portland To Coast High School Challenge respectively, both of which are held in conjunction with the main relay and start in downtown Portland instead of Mount Hood.
