Dr. Chantel Gorton DPT received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Pacific University in 2009. Since graduating she has focused her practice on general orthopedic and sports rehab but also acquired an impressive roster of experience: In 2011 she moved to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and worked for Family Medical, an international hospital treating various orthopaedic and sports injuries. In addition to this she also gained recognition for treating Vietnam’s professional basketball team, the Saigon Heat, and became their team Physical Therapist. To broaden her physical therapy scope even more, she spent time at a child development center where she took on the challenge of starting a pro bono weekly clinic for local Vietnamese children with developmental disorders. Upon repatriating to the US in 2013, she was accepted into a sports medicine residency program in Boise, ID and spent the last year working for St. Luke’s rehab as their sports medicine resident. It was there that she worked directly with a local high school and their varsity football team, treating and improving their players’ performance. She also had the opportunity to work for Boise’s professional hockey team, The Steelheads, as their team Physical Therapist. Chantel was later invited to become a provider for the US Olympic and Paralympic teams and spent time at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO, treating US Olympic and Paralympic athletes. She moved back to Portland in August of 2014 and is happy to announce her new position as a PT for Stride Strong Physical Therapy!
I started going to Chantel after breaking my second metatarsal and realizing that after it had “healed” there was still quite a bit of pain and discomfort. Adjusting my stride to compensate for my foot brought on other aches and pains in my hips and knees.
Stride Strong came highly recommended by the owner of Fit Right and I would concur that my experience was nothing but positive.
Chantel spent the initial 1.5 hrs reviewing my case, evaluating my stride and strength tests. She listens and is proactive. Stridestrong has a website that allows patients to log-in and view animated clips of the exercises they are assigned which has proved to be very useful weeks later.
I’ve seen great improvement and although I’m still working through some issues her exercises and tips are invaluable. My only complaint is that their offices are in Beaverton otherwise I’d go more often!
